About Biblical Mentoring:
Titus 2:3-5 ESV
Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.
What makes a Word Of Hope Biblical Mentor different from other mentors?
Our mentors are trained in mentoring AND given a thorough introduction to Biblical Counseling principles. This provides the potential for a deeper level of relationship as the mentor is able to disciple their mentee, and also to help them to Biblically navigate their life struggles. She will also be trained to know when the mentee's struggles are beyond the scope of the mentoring relationship, and therefore will refer the mentee to a Biblical Counselor for more focused help for a period of time. Upon completion of the counseling, the mentee may return to the mentor for ongoing mentoring and discipling.
Who Can Be a Biblical Mentor?
Many women who are gifted well for One-Another ministry, or interested in learning more about counseling others, do not want to go through the more rigorous certification or degree training offered by other organizations.
Some women feel ill-equipped, or unprepared to minister to other women or youth. This training will assist women in gaining knowledge and skills needed for effective One-Another ministry. It is also designed to move them past their insecurities about their ability to minister God's Word to others.
A trainee must be active in her local church.
How is Biblical Mentoring Different From Biblical Counseling?
A trained mentor is not a certified or qualified Biblical Counselor. She will, however, have gained insight and skills necessary for mentoring and discipling women and girls with God's Word. The ministry is a lay-ministry and done within the context of the mentor's local church under her church leadership. She will, however, have received an introduction to Biblical Counseling that will prepare her for further counselor training if she desires to become certified or receive a degree in Biblical Counseling (this is, of course, optional).
How Does Word Of Hope Ministries Support Mentors?
Once training is complete, ongoing support from Word Of Hope Ministries will be available via email and social media; however, WOHM will not be liable or responsible for the mentor's personal ministry activities. The responsibility for the mentor will fall under their church leadership.
Heb 3:13, NIV- But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.
