   Bridge the Gap Seasonal Reset
☀  Summer  ☀

Summer has a way of shifting the rhythm of life — schedules change, routines get looser, the pace either speeds up or slows down, and sometimes our spiritual lives quietly drift in the shuffle. That's what this space is for.
 
The Summer Reset is a gentle, low-pressure invitation to pause, take stock, and intentionally tend to your relationship with God and the whole of who you are — spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. There is no checklist to complete, no grade to earn, and no pressure to do everything listed here. Simply look through what's offered, take what resonates in this season of your life, and leave the rest.
 
Think of this as a menu, not a mandate.

How to Use This Reset
Browse each area below and prayerfully choose one or two things that feel like a genuine invitation — not obligation. You might focus on a single area all summer, or mix and match week by week. There is no wrong way to do this.

☀ Spiritual Wellbeing
Summer is a beautiful season to slow down with God — to pray longer, listen more, and tend to what is happening between you and Jesus at the heart level. Here are some ways to do that.
 
Drawing Closer to Jesus
  • Set aside one morning a week this summer as a "slow morning with God" — no agenda, just your Bible, a cup of coffee, and an open heart.
  • Try a new form of prayer you haven't explored before: written prayer journaling, praying out loud on a walk, or simply sitting in silence.
  • Read one gospel this summer — Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John — and ask: What does this show me about who Jesus is?
  • Revisit a passage of Scripture that has meant a great deal to you in the past. What does it say to you now?
 
Reflecting on Your Spiritual Life
  • Ask yourself honestly: Where has my relationship with God felt most alive recently? Where has it felt distant?
  • Journal on this question: What lie have I been believing about God that has kept me from drawing closer to Him?
  • Consider: Am I more often talking to God about my life, or letting His Word speak into my life?
 
Gospel Reminders
Sometimes a reset simply means returning to the basics — the good news that changes everything.
You are fully known and fully loved — not because of what you've done, but because of what Jesus has done.
Grace is not a starting point you moved past — it is the ground you stand on every single day.
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in your life right now. (Romans 8:11)
You do not have to earn your standing before God. You are already His.

☀Mental Wellbeing
Our minds need tending as much as our souls do. Summer can bring its own kind of mental noise — comparison, over-scheduling, decision fatigue, or the weight of unprocessed thoughts. Here are some ways to give your mind a reset.
 
Practical Steps
  • Do a mental "clutter dump" — spend 20 minutes writing down everything that is occupying mental space. Worries, to-do items, unresolved conversations, hopes. Get it out of your head and onto paper.
  • Identify your three most important priorities this summer and write them somewhere visible. Let them guide your decisions.
  • Take a social media fast for one week — or set firm limits on your daily use. Notice what shifts.
  • Spend time each day without a screen, podcast, or background noise. Give your mind genuine rest.
  • Practice taking thoughts captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) — when anxious or untrue thoughts arise, name them, bring them to God, and replace them with what is true.
 
Renewing Your Mind
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."  — Romans 12:2
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — think about such things."  — Philippians 4:8

☀Emotional Wellbeing
We were made for connection, for feeling, and for bringing what we carry to God and to one another. A summer reset is a good time to check in with your heart — not just your schedule.
 
Checking In With Your Heart
  • Ask yourself: What emotions have I been carrying recently that I haven't fully acknowledged?
  • Is there grief, disappointment, or unresolved hurt that needs to be brought to God in prayer?
  • Is there someone in your life you need to forgive — or seek forgiveness from?
  • Are you allowing yourself to experience joy and delight this summer, or are you moving too fast to notice it?
 
Practical Steps for Emotional Health
  • Start a gratitude practice — write down three specific things you are grateful for each day. Specificity matters.
  • Write a letter to God about something you've been afraid to say out loud. You don't have to send it anywhere — it's just for you and Him.
  • Reach out to one person who has deeply impacted your life and tell them what they've meant to you.
  • Give yourself permission to rest without guilt. Rest is not laziness — it is obedience to a God who built rest into creation.

Boundaries and Soul Care
Healthy boundaries aren't about keeping people out — they're about stewarding the life and capacity God has given you. This summer, consider:


  • Are there commitments or relationships in your life that are draining you in ways that aren't sustainable? What might need to shift?
  • Practice saying no to one good thing so you can say yes to the best thing — for you, in this season.
  • Identify one area of your life where you've been overgiving and ask God what a healthier rhythm might look like.
 
"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."  — Proverbs 4:23


☀Physical Wellbeing
Our bodies are not separate from our spiritual lives — they are part of how we love God and love others. Caring for your body is an act of stewardship and worship.
 
Practical Steps
  • Get outside more. Sunshine, fresh air, and creation have a way of doing something good for the whole of us.
  • Choose one simple movement habit to build this summer — a daily walk, a swim, stretching in the morning.
  • Pay attention to your sleep. What would it take to protect 7–8 hours consistently?
  • Drink more water. Eat more meals around a table with people you love.
  • Take one full day of rest each week — a true Sabbath, unplugged and unhurried.
 
A Note on Sabbath
Sabbath is one of the most countercultural and spiritually rich practices you can return to. It is not about what you don't do — it's about who you trust. This summer, consider what a day of genuine rest and delight in God might look like for you.

☀Serving and Loving Others
A spiritual reset isn't only inward — it always bears fruit outward. Summer offers natural opportunities to slow down enough to notice and serve the people around you.
 
Ideas for Summer Service
  • Look around — who in your circle is lonely, struggling, or overlooked this summer? Show up for them with a meal, a call, or a visit.
  • Volunteer in one area that stretches you or puts you alongside people you wouldn't normally meet.
  • Mentor or invest in someone younger in the faith — a summer coffee conversation can plant seeds that last a lifetime.
  • Pray for your neighbors by name this summer. Ask God to show you how to love the people who live nearest to you.
  • Write encouragement to someone who needs it — a note, a card, a text. Don't wait until you have something "big" to say.
 
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together."  — Hebrews 10:24–25a


☀Investing in Community
One of the most spiritually formative things you can do this summer is stay in community — with God and with one another. Isolation has a way of distorting our perspective. Connection keeps us tethered to truth.


  • Stay engaged with your local church even when the summer schedule makes it harder.
  • Reach out to a mentor or a friend in the faith and ask for prayer or accountability this summer.
  • Share honestly in our discussion forum — your real questions, your real struggles, your real wins. That's what this space is for.
  • Pray for the women in this community by name. Ask God to do something beautiful in each of their lives this season. 
  • Reach out and get to know some women in our community.

A Word Before You Go
You don't have to do this perfectly. You don't have to do all of it. You just begin — and begin again when you drift, as we all do.
God is not waiting for you to get it together before He meets with you. He meets you right here, right now, in the middle of the ordinary summer days you're living.
