🌿 Story Corner
“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” — Revelation 12:11
Your story matters more than you know.
God has been at work in your life — in the mentoring relationships you’ve walked through, the seasons that shaped you, the women who invested in you, and the ways you’ve turned around and done the same for someone else. That story? It belongs here.
Story Corner is the place in our community where we slow down and listen to one another. Not to the highlights, not to the polished version — but to the real one. The one where God showed up in unexpected ways. The one where you almost gave up and didn’t. The one that someone else in this community desperately needs to hear.
What Story Corner Is
This is a space where Bridge the Gap members share their personal experiences with biblical mentoring — as a mentor, as a mentee, or both. Stories here might include:
• A mentoring relationship that changed the direction of your life
• A season when you almost said no to mentoring — and what happened when you said yes
• Something unexpected God did in the middle of an ordinary meeting with your mentee
• A lesson you learned the hard way that you now pass on to others
• A moment when Scripture came alive in the context of a mentoring relationship
• A woman who poured into you, and what her faithfulness meant
There is no wrong story here — only an unshared one.
A Few Things to Know Before You Share
You are safe here. This is a members-only community, and what you share stays within Bridge the Gap. You don’t need to have everything figured out or wrapped up neatly. God is still writing your story, and that’s okay.
You don’t need to be a writer. Write it the way you’d tell it to a friend over coffee. Simple, honest, and from the heart is always enough.
You can protect others. If your story involves someone else, you’re welcome to change names or keep identifying details general. You honor them and still honor God by sharing what He did.
Short is perfectly fine. A story doesn’t have to be long to be powerful. Even a single moment, one conversation, one verse that landed — that is a story worth telling.
How to Write Your Story
If you’re not sure where to start, try one of these prompts:
Option 1 — The Relationship
Tell us about a mentoring relationship that shaped you. Who was she? What did she see in you that you couldn’t see in yourself? What did God do between the two of you?
Option 2 — The Moment
Describe one specific moment in a mentoring relationship — a conversation, a prayer, a hard truth spoken in love — that you still think about. What made it significant?
Option 3 — The Lesson
What’s one thing mentoring has taught you about God, about yourself, or about what it means to truly love someone well?
Option 4 — The Invitation
Was there a moment you felt called to mentor someone and weren’t sure you were ready? What happened when you said yes anyway?
You’re welcome to use one of these as a starting point, combine them, or set them aside entirely and just tell your story your way.
A Note on Longer Stories
If you have a longer story to share — one that needs more room than a forum post allows — you’re also welcome to reach out to Ellen directly. Select stories may be featured in the Bridge the Gap newsletter or on the blog, with your permission, so that your testimony can encourage women who haven’t yet found this community. There is never any pressure to share publicly, but the invitation is open.
Ready to Share?
Head over to the Discussion Forum and post your story in the Story Corner category. You can give your post a simple title — even just “My Story” or “What Mentoring Taught Me” — or let the first line speak for itself.
When you arrive, you’ll see posts from other members who have already shared. Read them. Be encouraged by them. And when you’re ready — add yours.
We cannot wait to hear what God has done in you. 🌿
