OFFICE HOURS

Romans 15:14 "My brothers and sisters, I myself am convinced about you that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge,  and able to instruct one another."
Office Hours is a place set apart within Bridge the Gap for something beautiful and deeply biblical: caring for one another. It is here that mentoring moves from something we learn about to something we actually do — together, in community, with grace. This space is rooted in Romans 15:14, which reminds us that we are not just called to receive mentoring — we are called and equipped to offer it to one another. You belong here, and what you carry — your wisdom, your experience, your compassion — matters deeply to the people around you.

What Is This Space?
Office Hours is a monitored, caring community on the discussion forum where members can come alongside one another in real and meaningful ways. Whether someone is walking through a difficult season, wrestling with a hard decision, or simply needing to be heard and encouraged — this is a place to bring that.

Think of it as a warm, open door — a place to both give and receive care, counsel, and encouragement, the way Scripture calls us to.

What Happens Here?
Within Office Hours, you will find a dedicated topic thread in our message forum where members can:
  • Share a personal life struggle or challenge they are navigating
  • Receive thoughtful, biblical responses from fellow members
  • Encourage and counsel one another with the goodness and knowledge they carry
  • Practice the kind of one-another mentoring they are learning to do
This is mentoring in real time — not just studied in a lesson, but lived out in community.

If You Have Something to Share:
Sometimes life gets hard. Sometimes we need more than a lesson — we need people who will sit with us in it. If you are walking through something personally — a relationship strain, a spiritual wrestle, a season of grief, a decision that feels too heavy to carry alone — Office Hours is a safe place to bring it.

Here is how it works:
  • Post your situation or struggle in the Office Hours thread in our discussion forum
  • Other members will respond with care, encouragement, and biblical wisdom
  • You will not be left alone in it — this community will show up for you
You do not have to share anything you are not ready to share. You are always in control of what you bring. And what you do bring will be received with kindness.

If You Want to Come Alongside Someone:
This is also where your mentoring comes alive. When someone posts in Office Hours, you have the opportunity to step into that one-another role — to respond with encouragement, to pray, to point gently to truth, to simply say, “I see you and I’m here.”
You do not have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to show up. That is exactly what one-another care looks like.

A Word About Safety & Oversight from Ellen:
Office Hours is monitored daily. As a certified biblical counselor and the founder of Bridge the Gap, I personally review this space to ensure it remains a place of genuine care, healthy boundaries, and biblical encouragement. You are seen, and this space is protected.

If something shared requires deeper support, I will gently and privately reach out, or you may reach out to me, any time.

At Bridge the Gap, you will always be met with kindness.

Ready to Share?
Head to the Office Hours category in our discussion forum and let the community know:
*  What is weighing on your heart right now?
*  Where do you need the encouragement of one another?
*  What would it mean to you to not walk through this alone?

Come back and post updates, answers to prayer, or words of gratitude as you walk through it. We are praying for you.
