🤝 Mentor Match
“Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9–10

Sometimes you need someone who gets it.

Not a therapist. Not a pastor. Not someone you have to explain everything to from the beginning.
Just another woman who is in the mentoring trenches with you — someone who understands what it feels like to pour into someone else, to wonder if you’re doing it right, to carry the weight of another person’s story, and to keep showing up anyway.

That’s what Mentor Match is for.

What Mentor Match Is
Mentor Match is a simple, member-driven way to find a one-on-one connection with another Bridge the Gap woman for mutual encouragement, accountability, and support.
This is not a formal mentoring program. There are no assigned pairs, no required curriculum, and no reporting back. It’s simply two women saying — I see where you are, and I’d like to walk alongside you for a while.

A Mentor Match connection might look like:
•  A weekly or monthly forum message check-in
•  A weekly text thread where you share what you’re learning and praying about
•  A video call once a month to talk through what’s happening in your mentoring relationships
•  An email exchange — unhurried, thoughtful, as often as it works for both of you
•  Any combination of the above that fits your season and your schedule

There are no rules about how it has to look. You and your match decide together what works.

Who This Is For
Mentor Match is for the Bridge the Gap member who:
•  Wants a personal, one-on-one connection within the community — not just the group forum
•  Is actively mentoring someone and would love a trusted peer to process with
•  Feels like she’s always the one pouring out and is ready to experience a more mutual relationship
•  Is new to mentoring and would love a more experienced woman to learn from informally
•  Simply wants a friend in this space who truly understands the mentoring life

You don’t have to be at a certain stage of your mentoring journey to participate. You just have to be willing to show up for someone — and let someone show up for you.

How It Works
1.  Post your Connection Card in the forum.
A Connection Card is a short, structured post that tells other members a little about you and what kind of connection you’re looking for. A template is waiting for you below — just copy it, fill it in, and post it in the Mentor Match forum.
2.  Browse existing Connection Cards.
Before you post, scroll through the forum to see if someone has already posted who seems like a good fit. If you feel drawn to someone’s card, reach out to her directly through the forum’s private message feature and introduce yourself.
3.  Make contact and say hello.
There’s no formal process here — just a genuine introduction. You might say something as simple as “I read your Connection Card and I think we might have a lot in common. Would you be open to connecting?” From there, you two decide how you’d like to stay in touch.
4.  Check back in.
Once you’ve found a match, feel free to leave a short note in the forum letting others know you’ve connected — it encourages women who are still looking and reminds everyone that this space is working. You’re also always welcome to return if your season changes and you’re looking for a new connection.

What If It’s Not the Right Fit?
Not every connection will be a match, and that’s completely okay — it’s actually part of how this works well. If someone reaches out to you and you’re already connected, not in a season where you can take on a new connection, or simply sense it might not be the right fit, you can decline warmly and without lengthy explanation. Here are a few simple responses you’re welcome to use:

“Thank you so much for reaching out — it means a lot that my card resonated with you. I’ve just connected with someone and I’m not able to take on another right now, but I hope you find your perfect match soon. Keep checking back!”

“I’m so glad you’re looking for a connection — this community is such a gift. I don’t think I’m the right fit for what you’re describing, but I didn’t want to leave you without a response. I’m cheering you on as you keep looking!”

“Thank you for your kind message. My season has shifted a little and I’m not able to commit to a new connection right now. I hope someone in this community is exactly what you need — I’ll be praying for that!”

You never owe anyone a detailed explanation, and a warm, brief response is always enough. The goal is simply to leave the other woman feeling seen and encouraged — not rejected — so she keeps her heart open to finding her right connection.

And if you’re the one who hears a “not right now” — please don’t read it as a reflection of your worth or your story. Timing, capacity, and chemistry all matter in any relationship. Your person is here. Keep looking.

Your Connection Card Template
When you’re ready to post, copy and paste the template below into the forum and fill in your answers. There’s no wrong way to do this — be as brief or as detailed as feels right to you.

👋  My name is:  (first name or whatever you’re comfortable sharing)
🌿  A little about me:  (2–3 sentences — where you are in life, your faith background, anything that feels relevant)
📖  Where I am in mentoring:  (Are you currently mentoring someone? Have you mentored in the past? Are you brand new? Just share where you are.)
💬  What I'm looking for in a connection: (Accountability? Someone to process with? A more experienced mentor to learn from? A peer who’s in the same season? Something else?)
🕐  How often I'd like to connect: (Weekly? Monthly? Flexible? What works in your current season?)
📲  My preferred way to connect: (Text, voice messages, video calls, email, or a mix?)
🙏  One thing I'd love prayer for right now: (optional, but often the thing that helps another woman feel most connected to your story)

Feel free to say as much or as little as you’d like. The goal is simply to give another woman enough to know whether she’d like to reach out.

A Few Gentle Guidelines
•  This is peer connection, not formal mentoring.  Neither woman is the designated mentor or mentee — you’re simply walking alongside each other as equals.
•  Grace over obligation.  Life changes. Seasons shift. If a connection runs its natural course, that’s okay. There’s no failure here — only two women who encouraged each other for a while.
•  Keep it kind and keep it private. What you share with your match stays between you. Treat her story the way you’d want yours treated.
•  You can have more than one. Some women find one deep connection; others have two or three lighter ones. Follow what works for you.

Ready to Find Your Match?
Head over to the Mentor Match Discussion Forum to browse Connection Cards that have already been posted — your person might already be waiting. When you’re ready, post your own card and let the community come to you.

You were made for this kind of community. Don’t do the mentoring life alone. 🤝
