📚 Welcome to the Mentor's Book Club where we Bridge the Gap with Books!
This is not your average book club — and that's by design.
Here at Bridge the Gap, we believe that mentors who keep growing make the best mentors. Reading is one of the most powerful ways to do that. So instead of everyone reading the same book at the same time, we each read whatever book we're drawn to — and we bring what we're learning back here to share with one another.
That's what makes this space so rich. You bring your book, someone else brings theirs, and together we build a community of women who are curious, growing, and thinking deeply about what it means to walk alongside others. And our libraries grow!
How It Works
•Pick a book you're reading or want to read — anything that relates to mentoring, faith, relationships, personal growth, leadership, or the journey of womanhood.
•Need ideas? Browse our Suggested Resources for Mentors page for a curated list to get you started.
•Read at your own pace — no deadlines, no pressure, no assigned chapters.
•Come to the forum and share! Post what you're reading, what's standing out, what's challenging you, or how it's shaping you as a mentor.
•Respond to each other's posts. This is where the real magic happens.
This space is evergreen — there's always something to contribute, no matter where you are in your reading.
Discussion Prompts
Use any of the questions below to guide what you share. You don't need to answer all of them — just let one lead you in. There are no wrong entries here.
About Your Book
•What book are you reading, and what drew you to it?
•What idea, story, or chapter has stood out most — and why?
•Was there anything that surprised you, challenged you, or that you pushed back on?
•What's one line or passage you underlined or keep coming back to?
As a Mentor
•How does what you're reading connect to your own mentoring relationships?
•Is there something in this book you wish you had read earlier in your mentoring journey?
•What does this book reveal about what women need from the people who walk alongside them?
•How might you bring an idea from this book into a conversation with someone you're mentoring?
Practical Application
•What's one thing from this book you want to actually do differently as a mentor?
•Is there a resource, story, or idea in this book you'd pass along to a mentee? How might you use it?
•If your mentee read this book too, what would you most want to talk through together?
Going Deeper
•Does this book raise any questions you'd like to bring to Scripture? What passages come to mind?
•How does the content align with — or create tension with — a biblical view of mentoring and relationships?
How to Participate in the Forum
•Post in the Book Club category on the forum with the name of your book as the title — it keeps things easy to find.
•Share as much or as little as you'd like. A single quote and a two-sentence reflection is enough.
•Read what others are sharing and reply. Your perspective might be exactly what someone else needs to hear.
•Be honest. You don't have to love your book. Thoughtful wrestling makes the best conversations. •Remember Ellen’s 80/20 rule (if you have done one of her trainings.)
📚 Come back as often as you'd like — you're always welcome to post about a new book or revisit one you finished months ago.
A Word of Encouragement
You don't have to read fast. You don't have to read perfectly. You just have to keep going — one page, one chapter, one book at a time.
Every book you read as a mentor is an investment not just in yourself, but in every woman whose life you'll touch. We're so glad you're here.
